The Sims 4: Get Famous expansion introduced the fame mechanic. But there’s more to fame than adoring fans. There are all sorts of perks, quirks, and special celebrity interactions too. And the path to stardom isn’t reserved exclusively for those sims born for the stage.
Celebrity chefs and renowned Rocket Scientists can gain just as loyal a following as Del Sol Valley’s biggest heart throbs. There are numerous other possibilities for walking the path to fame, so we’ll waste no more time in diving right in.
Celebrity Ranking (Star Level)
First things first is how a sim’s stardom is measured, and that is through the star-level system that gives sims various titles as they progress along the path to fame.
Unknown | All sims start off as unknowns unless they were born to a famous sim. |
---|---|
Notable Newcomer | Sims will be recognized for the first time as a Notable Newcomer once they attain their first star ranking through fame. As a one-star celebrity, your sim will unlock their first quirk slot and earn their first Fame Point to spend on the newly unlocked celebrity Perks. |
Rising Star | As a two-star celeb, your sim will start to get noticed by other sims while out in public. Your sim will also start finding it easier to make friends, assuming they haven’t earned themselves a bad reputation around town. Becoming a Rising star unlocks the second tier of Fame Perks and rewards a couple more Fame Points to allot to them. |
B-Lister | Once your sim has established themselves as a three-star B-Lister, paparazzi will start taking notice. Such is the price of notable fame, but fortunately, it’s up to your sim how they handle the attention. B-Listers have a notably larger fan base as well, with whom they can interact with through actions such as “Huge Fan,” “Sign Autograph,” and “Take A Selfie With Fan.” B-Listers can now throw on a Celebrity Disguise using a mirror in order to slip past fans and paparazzi unnoticed. However, they won’t be able to grow their fame while incognito. Upon achieving this third-star ranking your sim will earn two additional Fame Points and unlock the third tier of Fame Perks. If your sim has a notably good or bad reputation, this level of stardom will unlock the additional reputation perk branches as well. |
Proper Celebrity | As a Proper Celebrity who’s achieved four-star fame your sim has adopted their own celebrity walk style and that distinctive celebrity fame shine. These new characteristics can be toggled on and off through self-interactions with your sim. Proper Celebrities are also able to perform the self-interaction “Incite Cheers” to cause nearby fans to go crazy. Other sims who don’t consider themselves fans may still praise your sim after inciting cheers. Most notably, Celebrities unlock the fourth tier of Fame Perks and two more Fame Points to put toward them. |
Global Superstar | Upon attaining the peak of superstardom at the five-star fame level, your sim will be awarded their very own Celebrity Tile. Your sim can engrave a custom inscription on the tile and head to Starlight Boulevard to place it along the walk of fame. As a Global Superstar your sim will unlock the fifth and final Perk tier, the final two quirk slots, and three more fame points to purchase the perks. |
How To Introduce Yourself To Celebrities
Sims can’t just strike up conversations with celebrities and expect to get their contact info or dive headfirst into a personal relationship. Even if the player sim accrued some stardom of their own, they won’t be able to simply greet a sim with a higher star level. They will have to “Attempt Introduction.”
In most cases, the celebrity will brush off the attempt or flat out ignore your sim and will not appear in your sim’s relationship panel as most other sims would upon meeting each other for the first time. With certain expansions, it is possible to bypass this snobbish behavior such as Possessed sims welcoming the celebrity through the “Welcome To Strangerville” interaction in The Sims 4: Strangerville expansion.
Your sim can also work around this by boosting their own fame and achieving a higher star level than that stuck up has been. Who knows, maybe that celebrity will be the one groveling at your sim’s feet the next time the two meet.

List Of Fame Perks Per Branch
Each perk requires a certain star-level status and the prerequisite of investing in the previous perks in that branch. There are also perk branches reserved for those sims that have earned themselves an especially good or bad reputation. Reputation perks begin unlocking when your sim is recognized as a B-Lister among celebrities.
Corporate Partnership Branch
Perk | Star Level | Effects |
---|---|---|
Corporate Partnership | Notable Newcomer | Uploading videos or music tracks earn more fame and royalties. As a perk, different brands will reach out with timed opportunities to promote their products for an additional payment. |
Influencer | Rising Star | Influencers receive genuine and sometimes valuable fan mail. Anything from gourmet baked goods to unique collectibles will start arriving in your sim’s mailbox. |
All-Nighter | B-Lister | This is a two-part perk that boosts your sim’s energy in order for them to pull “All-Nighters” even when tired. This energy boost allows them to successfully complete the new 24-Hour Charity Streams this perk enables your sim to host via the Video Station or Drone. These streaming marathons reward a significant amount of fame and a good reputation. |
Trailblazer | Proper Celebrity | Trailblazers earn more royalties on their uploads to the Video Station for setting trends instead of following them. You’re also likely to see more and more sims sauntering around town clad in your sim’s trademark outfit. |
Lifestyle Brand | Global Superstar | Once your sim has reached the top of the fame charts they can launch their own personal lifestyle brand. This can become your sim’s personal entrepreneurial business but they’ll have to put the time and dedication into promoting their brand and remaining relevant with their target audience. This perk will unlock actions such as “Enthuse about brand” to other sims and if you pay attention to the chat bubbles while mingling in public, your sim may just overhear their brand being discussed by other sims. |
Networking Branch
Perk | Star Level | Effects |
---|---|---|
Networking | Notable Newcomer | As mentioned earlier, celebrities aren’t the most approachable sims, but sims with the Networking perk will have an easier time breaking through their snooty barriers. Networking boasts the bonus advantage of earning your sim fame while socializing with celebrities; the higher the celebrity’s star level outranks your sim’s own star-level, the more fame your sim will earn by socializing with them. |
PR Agency | Rising Star | Having a PR Agency at your sims disposal grants the perk of having a direct means to controlling your sim’s reputation and social status. Your sim’s PR Agency can push good or bad stories about your sim to sway their reputation, as well as get your sim on exclusive celebrity guest-lists and the hottest invites. These who’s-who parties can instantly add celebrity friends to your sim’s list of contacts. |
Fan Favorite | B-Lister | Fan favorite sims can leverage their fan base to influence the fame or reputation of any household member. Simply have your sim ask a fan to signal boost the household member’s fame or reputation. Fan favorites can also dazzle nearby fans and cause them to faint by striking a pose. |
Instant Besties | Proper Celebrity | Your sim’s abundant enigmatic charm can win over new acquaintances in a snap. A simple first-time interaction with a new sim will be enough to become friends or lovebirds. |
Squad | Global Superstar | Anyone who’s anyone needs their own personal entourage. With this perk your sim can hand pick sims they consider their inner circle to be at their beckon call. The squad will herald to your sim’s call, rallying behind them in your sim’s signature threads and also offer emotional support should your sim be in need of a laugh or comforting words. |
Noticeable Branch
Perk | Star Level | Effects |
---|---|---|
Noticeable | Notable Newcomer | Noticeable sims capture attention just going about their daily lives. This perk enables the chance for your sim to earn fame through any skill or work-based action. |
CelebuSerum | Rising Star | Only the best for the best. After being recognized as a Notable Newcomer your sim can subscribe to an elite celebrity mailing list that will deliver an exclusive CelebuSereum to their mailbox each day. These potions can take care of your sims needs or alter their mood, but they all aid your sim in learning skills faster. |
Established Name | B-Lister | As a household name, anything your sim sells, publishes, or licenses that took skill to create wil sell for more simoleons and continue earning greater royalties over time. Actors that have become an established name no longer need to waste time with auditions, stylists, or wardrobe like common talent before hitting the stage. |
Career Hopper | Proper Celebrity | Many celebrities don’t keep their minds set on one goal, so if your celeb sim is looking for a career change, you can apply this perk to make a smooth transition. Career Hoppers start new careers at a higher entry position and will find it easier to advance through the ranks. |
Easy Street | Global Superstar | They say you never work a day in your life doing something you love, and that is doubly true for celebrities. With the Easy Street perk, your sim will earn a double paycheck and be rewarded substantially for the smallest of efforts. When it all comes so easily, it’s hard to leave the work day feeling any less than positive. |
Good Reputation Perks
Perk | Requirements | Effects |
---|---|---|
Giving Back | B-Lister with Good Reputation | As a kind-hearted celebrity known for their charitable nature, your sim will earn a good reputation even faster and they are now able to donate personal household items to fans to boost their fame. |
Rally! | Proper Celebrity with Great Reputation | Your sim is a true inspiration and can rally motivation in other sims by giving inspirational speeches and encouraging boosted skill gains in other sims. Additionally, your sim will benefit from successful social interactions with others in the few hours following their speech. |
Star Treatment | Global Superstar with Pristine Reputation | The Five Star Treatment means your sim will recieve numerous freebies from adoring fans. Free services, free food, you name it! And if sims throwing themselves at your sims feet wasn’t enough, they’ll also throw confetti anytime your sim arrives at a public venue. |
Bad Reputation Perks
Perk | Requirements | Effects |
---|---|---|
Who’s Bad | B-Lister with Bad Reputation | Sims can also make a name for themselves by acting out. With the Who’s Bad perk sims will lose reputation even easier, anytime they do something the public frowns upon. Any mischievous interactions will now earn these bad eggs undo fame. |
Play The Villain | Proper Celebrity with Awful Reputation | Mean actions only serve to increase your sim’s fame with this perk. Who said nice guys finish last? Well, they do when your sim decides to start playing the villain. Nearby sims will cheer on your sim’s mean interactions and even encourage them further by fawning over them asking for autographs and pictures afterward. |
FeudBringer | Global Superstar with Atrocious Reputation | We all know those celebrities that always seem to be on the outs with one co-star or another. Now, that celebrity can be your sim. With the FeudBringer perk, your sim can instigate public celebrity feuds with other notable names around De Sol Valley. |
Behavioral Quirks
Celebrities are bound to develop unique quirks as a result of their lavish and pampered lifestyle. These odd traits will gradually manifest themselves as your sim accrues more stardom. With four possible quirks in total, the first will unlock at star-level one then a second at star-level three.
The final two trait slots will unlock when your sim is recognized as a five-star celebrity. However, even celebrities don’t get to choose their quirks. Instead, these character traits form naturally through your sim’s habitual actions, such as how they interact with their fans or regularly eating gourmet meals.
Brushes with Fame
If your sim has had ample run-ins with bigger name celebs than themselves, they’ll likely develop the Brushes with Fame quirk which forms from touching sims with greater fame than their own. Your sim will now suffer a sad moodlet from socializing with the general public and being ostracized from other celebs of your sim’s star level or higher. How are they supposed to mingle with the common rabble after rubbing elbows with so many elite public figures?
Emotion Bomb
If your sim has been prone to fits of extreme sadness or anger (Very Sad or Very Angry moodlets) watch out. These tendencies may cause your sim to develop into an emotional bomb. The extreme emotional episodes don’t last long before your sim will revert to normal acting as though nothing happened, but not if they succumb to death by anger first. Suffice to say you’ll want to keep this quirk in check and quickly cull any emotional outbursts before they can get too out of hand.
“Fan” Mail
If your sim has made themselves accessible to their fan base, be ready to take the bad with the good as not every sim wants to send your sim letters of adoration. This quirk means your sim has earned themselves a dedicated hater base as well, who will eagerly fill your sims mailbox with mean-spirited junk items.
Juice Enthusiast
Sims who enjoy the regular juice drink will suffer Tense or Uncomfortable moodlets if they don’t frequent a bar or make drinks often. It will be harder to raise the fun meter for sims that have fallen prey to the negative moodlets induced by this quirk.
No Touching
If your sim has frequently suffered the touch of less famous sims while climbing the social ladder, they will likely develop the No Touching perk which causes them to tense up when touched by lesser-known strangers. But on the flip side, they may gain a confidence boost if they avoid contact with commoners for an extended period of time.
Paparazzi Darling
If your sim has maintained a good relationship with the pap through friendly interactions, they’re likely to attract more and more through the Paparazzi Darling quirk. More pap means more reputation from each picture they take. Unfortunately, this level of attention skews your sims priorities and they will neglect all else to give the paparazzi what they want when your sim is out of your direct control. This includes ignoring critically low needs so, don’t leave your Paparazzi Darling alone too long!
Phone Fanatic
Sims that use their phone for entertainment on the reg will come to rely on it for a source of stress relief and will become tense if they haven’t used their phone for entertainment purposes recently. When left to their own devices, that’s exactly where you’re like to find them; glued to the screen of their mobile device.
Public Number
Sims that use their phone for social interaction risk having their personal number leaked to the public. This opens the floodgates for all sorts of unsolicited calls from critics, fans, and stalkers alike. These unexpected interactions can affect your sim’s moodlet in all sorts of ways, so be careful answering that phone from now on.
Refined Palate
Sims that have developed a refined palate will be loathed to subject themselves to anything less than an excellent quality meal. It’s fine dining from here on out for these starlets if you want to keep them happy. If these sims are subjected to a less than five-star meal they will instantly slip into an Uncomfortable moodlet.
A Stan
Careful letting your sim sign too many autographs, lest they attract a Stan they can’t shake. If you’ve got a fan that’s taken their infatuation with your sim to new levels by following them home or digging through their trash, your sim’s got themself a Stan, as they are known to celebrity society. Harmless, but voraciously obsessed with your sim, Stans will try to chat your sim up in public, hang around your sim’s residence, root through your trash, and are likely to nab a souvenir if you decide to invite them in.
A Serious Actor
As an Actor or Actress, if your sim tends to take on dramatic gigs then they are likely to lose their patience for light-hearted antics. Funny or Mischievous behavior will quickly aggravate your sim rather than get them to crack a smile. They also tend to act as the self-appointed fun police on set, by subjecting any cast or crew member to a furious rant should they make the mistake of treating acting as play.
Vain Street
Sims that can’t seem to get enough of themselves each time they pass a mirror may start walking down Vain Street if they don’t watch their step. These sims feel a near-constant need to check their appearance in a mirror and may become Tense if they don’t. They can also boost their confidence by executing the action “Admire Fine Self.”
Quitting The Spotlight
Introverted sims that find even the smallest social interactions or acknowledgments downright excruciating can opt-out of drawing attention to themselves altogether by checking off “Quit the Spotlight” in their fame tab.
If a sim gets a taste of stardom then changes their mind and wishes to Quit The Spotlight, they can do so at any time, unless they’ve already invested in celebrity perks. Don’t worry, this doesn’t mean your deer in the spotlight sim can’t turn the situation around. Simply book them a “Celebrity Cleanse” over the phone to erase their perks and quirks, and they can slip back into obscurity.
